The site of the Battle of Boyne offers a number of walking routes. An information board at the large carpark offers details of the various walks. We took on the Canal Townpath Walk. We followed the path down the avenue away from Oldbridge house and out the main gates to the pathway along the leafy Canal. The path then led us back to the vast estate where we used the information board by the Bird Hut to identify the various trees. Beside a number of wooden huts there is another information board with the story of the Battle of Boyne. We took on this walk on a bright dry Sunday morning and the path was quite soft in parts. We’d imagine it would be very tricky after wet weather.
